Could the Cardinals be interested in Andruw Jones??

Viva El Birdos, a very well respected source of good discussion and reliable information, is suggesting that Andruw Jones could be looking for a one year deal. In the event that information is accurate, El Birdos suggest the Cardinals could, and should pursue him.

Think a lineup with a “Productive” Andruw Jones.

Eckstein/Ryan

Ankiel

Pujols

Jones

Edmonds

Rolen

Kennedy

Molina

Plus and outfield of Edmonds, Jones, Ankiel would be pretty darn impressive.

    I must also add:

The Padres are rumored to be offering Jones a one year 17Mill deal.

$17 is probably way out of line and the Cards should pass tehre. There still is some risk on what Jones will bring to the table.

$12-$13, maybe with some incentives, I think the Cards probably should be in the running.

Never gonna happen, unless the market completely broke down why would Jones run the risk of injury and/or a 2nd bad season and not cash in on his payday. Boras will find a way to get this guy more than he’s worth……

I don’t like it at all. For one the guy flirted with .200 around the All Star Break. Is he worth anymore than 10 Mil??? Doubt it. Will the Cards pay more than 10 mil? Doubt it. Unless it’s incentive based. This would allow them to move Duncan though.

I would even be comfortable moving Duncan as the current roster sits (considering we get a QUALITY starter in return). Of course, you would have to package in other players to get a quality starter in return. You could play Ankiel, Edmonds and a Shumaker/Ludwick platoon in right and resign Guch to a one year deal for protection. If Duncan is traded would I love to see a RH power bat be added to the outfield, OF COURSE, but I’m being realistic in the penny pinching scheme of things we have working here in St. Louis. I just pray for the love of God we don’t pay $8-$12 mil/yr for the Silva’s and Losch’s of the world, better to save your money for next year when you have Juan, Jimmy, and Izzy’s collective $22 mil falling off the books….
