Upon reading up on some of my favorite Cardinal news sources and blogs, I’ve noticed that Anthony Reyes is drawing some early praise in regards to his physical condition, velocity, and his location of pitches. I know it’s February, but this makes me a little tad bit, optimistic for the future, even if it’s beyond 2008 (he’ll have to pitch well to stay beyond this season). An effective Anthony Reyes would significantly change the quality of the rotation. Imagine if Reyes pitched to his so-called “potential”, all of the sudden, the rotation doesn’t look as shaky.
The question would be, “How do we define Reyes potential?”
What is his real potential? Retiring 16 straight Detroit Tigers in Game 1 of the 2006 World Series? A one hitter against the White Sox? Or a two hit shutout in 2005 against the Brew Crew? All of that aforementioned potential seems a distant memory, especially after the dismal 2 – 14 season he endured in 2007.
“We’re a deeper ballclub if he’s the best guy and he’s in the rotation,”… “It gives our pitching staff more depth. … I’m rooting for Anthony Reyes. I hope he’s good enough.” ~ Dave Duncan

Matt Leach on Reyes -Very Encouraging!! Actually this write up is a must read for Cardinal fans…
Moving on, it’s nice to see the Cardinals are trying to squeeze another 19.95 out of the fan base for joining the official “Cardinal Nation”. Who came up with “Cardinal Nation” anyway? We’re not the Red Sox. (Am I negative today or what?)
Barry Bonds will not be wearing a Cardinal uniform, regardless of what Tony thinks of him. I’m not going to waste time blogging about this issue as I’m all for moving on towards the future of baseball. What happened…happened…nearly everyone was cheating, and signing Bonds would be a terrible PR move that I wouldn’t expect from an organization so focused on making a buck or two (get it)
Tony seems very naive about the cheaters of the game, but he’s not alone by any means. If you want to express your opinion, go here.
David Wells‘ agent called the Cards offering his services and was shot down. How bad do you have to be for the Cardinals to reject you? Jeez!
Bernie Miklasz from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and often times the biggest voice for the fans, has hit the nail on the head with his latest rant about the ownership group.
- In closing, for a guy who’s never been to Cardinals’ Spring Training ( I plan on going next year), blogger “Mike On The Cards” has a nice little write up on his experience…pretty neat read
Take Care.
